Ringing in the New Year!

Maybe it’s just us, but it seems as if most folks were happy to see 2016 come to an end. Maybe it was just that winter was starting to settle in, but it seemed as if most were just excited for a fresh start in 2017. While we here at the Back Door Winery may not share that same apprehension for last year, we certainly share your excitement for everything that’s to come in the New Year!

Of course, I should start with a most sincere thank you to everyone who came through our doors (both back and front) over the course of 2016, our first full year of operation! We couldn’t have asked for a more eclectic, diverse, and overall wonderful group of people to share both our wines and our stories with. You all helped to fill our patios with music and our quaint little wineshop with laughter.

Let’s be clear though, 2016 was certainly no cakewalk for us. Those familiar with our story know all about the extensive time and labour invested into restoring this old heritage building and its surrounding acres. Certainly the first year for every new business is one filled with ups and downs, but as summer began to draw to a close and the winter winds began to settle we were able to look out at our little operation and revel in our fruits. You know, once we got them off the vines.

The New Year has still only just begun, but we already have a bunch of new surprises on the way. Starting within a month or so we will be launching the first of our five newest wines. I’d tell you more about it now, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise! Work is underway for a new and, shall we say appetizing addition to the patio. And already the wineshop is beginning to fill with new work from local artists.

This last year has been nothing short of phenomenal for us, and the New Year looks to be only that much more promising. From all of us here at Back Door Winery, we’d like to wish you all the best in 2017, and we’d like to invite everyone to come on down for a tasting (still complimentary of course) and to learn all about what you can expect from us in the coming months.
