Behind Every Door Lies a Promise

Once upon a time in Summerland, those who knew the secret knock found themselves among kindred spirits—people who stood up for what was real. At Back Door Winery, we still believe in that spirit: authentic, independent, quietly bold.

This year, the knock came from our neighbors—independent, small, family-owned grape growers across BC who faced the heartbreaking prospect of their carefully nurtured fruit going to waste. Grapes grown with love, pride, and generations of hard work on British Columbian soil, all waiting for a champion.

So, we opened up the back door again.

We stepped up, brought in fruit from these families, and took a stand for what matters: wine made from 100% BC-grown grapes. No imports. No blends. No shortcuts. Just the true flavor of our land, bottled with the grit and pride that built this province.

The Wine That BC Built

Our 2025 Save the Grapes Vintage is much more than a wine—it’s a tribute to community, resilience, and family. It’s wine that exists because a few visionary hearts refused to let real BC fruit fall to the ground. Every bottle captures the story of real farms, honest labor, and the unshakable spirit of British Columbia.

And at the helm of this project is Anthony Buchanan—one of BC’s most respected winemakers, known for his sustainable, low-intervention style and uncompromising commitment to honesty in every bottle. Anthony’s wines reflect purity, precision, and heart—qualities that define this very vintage. He believes, as we do, that great wine starts with trust in the land and respect for the grower. Together, we’re transforming integrity and community into something unforgettable.
